All of us at LawOnline.ca stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities as we honour Survivors, remember the children who never came home, acknowledge the lasting legacy of residential schools, and commit to meaningful steps toward healing, truth-telling, and reconciliation.
September 30 is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a federal statutory holiday established to honour the Survivors and children of the residential school system. It is also Orange Shirt Day, inspired by the story of Phyllis Webstad, whose new orange shirt was taken from her on her first day at residential school.
We encourage everyone to take time today to listen, learn, and reflect on how we can each contribute to reconciliation in our communities.
